Darren Almond was born in 1971 in Wigan and, though he lives in London, for the last two years he has been staying at regular intervals in Walberswick. Otherwise he travels to the extremes of the planet for his photography and film. His work is diverse: predominantly photography, but film, sculpture and installation are also incorporated.

Since 1998 he has been working on an ongoing series of images called ‘Fullmoons’ taken around the planet, at full moon and depicting ethereal moments on long exposures of 15 minutes or more, creating almost daytime images. From Siberia to Kazakhstan to closer to home, he is drawn to extreme landscapes such as Scotland. Time is a constant preoccupation in his work, its passage and its effects, its relentlessness all come under consideration. Darren Almond is represented by White Cube.
