Simon Liddiment was born in Norfolk in 1964, studied in Great Yarmouth
and at Goldsmiths College, and now works in Norwich. His signature
works all focus on the passing of time, frequently using detailed
repetition. He uses a broad range of media from photography to plaster.
Often he uses deliberately ordinary materials such as a loo roll,
which, once he has coated it every day for a year in thin layers,
takes on an exquisite refined form, a complete departure from how
it came into the world. The point is a meditation on transformation
and engagement with objects. Recent exhibitions include EAST goes
East in Krakow and Studio F.K.S.E, Budapest.
